DISORDERS

Arthritis

Arthritis can occur in any joint of the foot and ankle.

It may or may not be linked to previous trauma, such as complex fractures.

Common symptoms are stiffness, pain, and difficulty walking.

There is poor correlation between its appearance on X‐ray and the severity of symptoms.

Pain control may be achieved through medication and activity modification.

Failing this, surgery is recommended and there are different options available.
